The name
It marks the southern end of Eridanus, the long river of stars that winds down from Orion's foot.
Where you can see it
It rises everywhere south of 33°N. From Riyadh it climbs to 8° above the horizon. Never rises over London. From Sydney it climbs to 67° above the horizon.
