The second-brightest star. Across Arabia, the dawn rising of Suhayl in late August has long signalled that the worst of summer's heat is over.
Where you can see it
It rises everywhere south of 37°N. From Riyadh it climbs to 13° above the horizon. Never rises over London. From Sydney it climbs to 71° above the horizon.
